A brake caliper is a vital component of the disc braking system. It houses the brake pistons and pads, and its main function is to apply hydraulic pressure to the brake pads, pressing them against the brake disc (rotor). Typical symptoms include:

Reduced braking efficiency or dragging noise after releasing the pedal
